Florist website migration

Switching florist website providers: a practical checklist

Moving a flower shop site is more than copying arrangements. Protect your domain, email, customer experience, and busiest selling days with a staged transition.

BloomWebsites is currently available to build and preview for free. New publishing and subscriptions are temporarily paused.

Start with your current provider agreement

Find the renewal and cancellation dates, notice requirements, any minimum term, and what happens to your domain and website content after cancellation. Ask for written clarification if a clause is unclear. We cannot interpret another provider’s contract for you.

Make a list of services bundled with the current plan: domain registration, email, payment processing, reviews, SEO, delivery zones, and POS exports.

Inventory everything before you move

Export or document products, prices, upgrades, occasions, add-ons, photographs, descriptions, homepage content, policies, delivery areas, and holiday cutoffs. Confirm you have the right to reuse each image and any third-party text.

Record your existing page URLs, especially popular arrangements, wedding services, and local delivery pages. Keep a backup copy of your old content and settings.

Protect your domain and local search visibility

Determine who legally controls the domain and its registrar login. Plan DNS changes only once the new storefront is verified. Preserve business name, address, phone, and key page topics.

Map old URLs to their closest new equivalents and arrange permanent redirects where technically possible. Confirm Search Console ownership and review indexing after switching. Do not redirect every old page to the homepage without considering relevance.

Build and verify before a cutover

Add products and review desktop and mobile pages. Test delivery zones, pickup availability, card messages, taxes, tips, processor settings, order emails, and any POS export your shop uses.

Run controlled order tests before accepting real transactions. Check who receives alerts, how refunds work, and whether emergency contact details are current.

Pick a calm switching window

Avoid making an untested switch immediately before Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, or another peak period. Schedule the cutover when staff can watch order intake and make corrections.

BloomWebsites currently supports free building and previews; public publishing is paused. Do not cancel an existing live provider solely because you have started a BloomWebsites preview.
